We stayed in one of the safari tents for four days on our honeymoon. We had the most amazing time. I think this is one of the few places on safari where you aren't fenced in which means your safari continues even when you get home! On the day we arrived, we were greeted by 15 elephants enjoying a drink and a play at the watering hole - such an amazing start. The staff were great, tent was beautiful, pool lovely and the food and drinks perfect. The game drives were amazing and the ranger was so knowledgeable. Thank you!

We arrived after around an hour and bit drive from Port Elizabeth airport, shown to the most amazing lodge ( lodge number 1 ) which is very close to the watering hole and we were lucky to see lots of animals around this area. The lodges are huge with under floor heating, 2 showers one indoors and 1 outdoors, a huge Jacuzzi bath with a view of the South African Bush!
The hotel's staff couldn't do enough for you from the waiter to the Ranger on the game drives. Food is excellent and I like the fact we all sit together as a group to have the meals, as it was nice to hear of everyone else's stories of their recent weddings or this trip being on their bucket list.
We saw everything I wanted to see on my game drives, even the cheetah's which hadn't been seen for 2 weeks. It was a mum with her cubs who ran in front of us playing and knocking each other over, what a sight!
I had the best 2 days here and really cant recommend this place highly enough!
Room Tip: Lodge 1 is near to the watering hole and you can see the animals from your terrace.

We had a perfect stay in this wonderful lodge : Everyone was from our arrival until our departure extremely friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was like being at home. Great food and drinks, big bungalows with a big bathroom and a big terrace guarantee relaxing days. Best: Two daily game-drives in a Land Rover with an excellent guide in a stunning landscape , the Big 5 at short distance ,very few tourists. No need for Malaria Prophylaxis in this area ! Highly recommended , our experience by far exceeded our expectations !
This a very relaxing small lodge with only four luxury lodges surrounded by beautiful countryside. The staff are really helpful and friendly. Our Ranger Marrisa was very friendly and knowledgeable. We were really lucky and saw lots of animals on the drives and around our lodge. The food was excellent from afternoon snacks to 4 course dinner. I highly recommend it.
Yes, loved this place. The lodge was camouflaged nicely into the reserve. Each individual lodge was superb. With underfloor heating (we were here in 'winter' and the heating was welcomed), stove, jacuzzi, electric blankets, indoor and outdoor showers. The game drives were wonderful and we had an excellent ranger, Janco, who was very knowledgeable, experienced and friendly. The reserve has all of the big 5 which we saw up close. Even when we didn't catch any sightings the drive around the reserve was spectacular.
Small lodge with only 4 luxurious rooms so you get to know the other guests. Staff are very friendly and very accommodating. Game drives were great and we got to see everything. The food was outstanding. All inclusive is the way to go.
The Amakhala game reserve is the perfect safari experience and the Bukela Game Lodge ensures you stay in friendly and first class accommodations. The food and drink is plentiful and of the highest quality, and the rooms are spacious, private and professionally decorated. We saw wild African animals close up and in their natural habitat and our highlights included watching cheetah's eat a fresh kill, elephants chasing a pride of lions away, and various baby animals that were likely born in the early spring and were just finding their place in their respective herds. On one of our evenings, the staff performed traditional songs and dances which were joyous and just as amazing as viewing the animals. We cannot emphasize enough what a wonderful time we had at Bukela and, according to the other guests we spoke with, we all considered this Game Lodge to be the best possible value for overall enjoyment and safari experience. You will NOT be disappointed!

We stayed three nights in one of the new tents and fitted in six games drives including one on the morning we left.
Everything about our stay was wonderful, from the welcome, the setting, the quality of the accommodation & food, the game drives and the fun we had with the other guests both on the drives & over dinner.
Every day brought another incredible highlight; from seeing a group of elephants come to the water hole in front of the lodge deck to watching the cheetahs bringing down and feasting on a hartebeest on the last drive.
Special mention must go to our drive ranger Vuyani, whose enthusiasm is infectious. He made our drives so much fun, we saw loads of animals and birds (including 4 of the big 5) and he introduced us to the delights of coffee with Amarula on the morning drives!

Because it's hard to say goodbye, we want to give you the chance to spend an extra night at our beautiful lodge. Squeeze in an extra two game activities, sample some more of our fine South African wines, and indulge in one last delicious dinner.
